Rimowa to expand production operations in Cambridge, plans to add 130 new jobs

Rimowa is expected to expand their production facility in Cambridge, opening 130 new permanent jobs by the end of the year. The company produces polycarbonate and aluminum luggages.

Public Relations and Marketing Manager of Rimowa, Amy Jakubaitis tells 570 News why this was a good time to expand their operation.

“The demand for our products has never been higher. In order to increase our responsiveness to the consumer demand, we just knew we needed to take the next steps increasing our production capacity so we knew this was a good time.”

Jakubaitis could not release any details of the new Rimowa location yet.

Cambridge is the only Rimowa facility in the world that produces both aluminum and polycarbonate collections under one roof.

Rimowa’s plant in Cambridge opened in 2008, where they employed only 25 employees. They now employ 500 people in the community.
