Council approves new suburb for northwest Waterloo

The City of Waterloo has approved a plan to guide development of a major suburb in northwest Waterloo. It could be the last one built in the city.
The Record reports city council gave the green light to the project on Monday, approving a district plan and environmental assessment for Beaver Creek Meadows.
It’s located in the Conservation Drive and Beaver Creek Road area and is one of the last major undeveloped plots of land in the city.
Commercial use is also planned for the 156 hectares.
It’s estimated the project will cost the city more than $24 million.
