Guelph Mercury will print for the final time Friday, January 29th

Metroland Media Group Ltd. announced it will stop publishing the print edition of the Guelph Mercury.

The last edition of the daily newspaper will be published Friday, January 29.

The Guelph Mercury is one of the oldest broadsheet newspapers in Canada, established in 1867.

The closure of the print edition is due to poor financial performance.

The paper says 23 full-time and 3 part-time employees, including 8 employees in the editorial department are affected.
