It was close, but the Kitchener Rangers were not able to extend their winning streak to five games on Tuesday night.
Daniel Bernhardt had what proved to be the winning goal as London edged the Rangers 5-4 in front of over 7,100 fans at The Aud.
The season series between the two teams is now 2-2. It also gives the second place Knights a three point advantage on Kitchener in the Midwest Division.
Rangers captain Ryan MacInnis extended his point streak to 18 games with a goal and assist. Other Kitchener goals came from Gustaf Franzen, Connor Bunnaman and Dylan Di Perna.
MacInnis was happy with the way his team battled back: “…We had a good amount of energy there in the last bit there, just couldn’t execute in the last couple minutes.”
Rangers Head Coach Mike Van Ryn was also pleased with the effort: “It comes down to details. They were able to score…I think we had more chances, they were able to score on less chances…”
Kitchener is home to the top ranked Erie Otters on Friday. 570 News has the pre-game show at 7pm.
