Region to finalize budget, 3% tax increase proposed

Regional council is set to vote Wednesday on a proposed three-per cent budget increase.
The Record reports three regional committees are recommending the increase, which would add $54 to the average property tax bill for a home assessed at $302,000.
The proposed hike includes the cost of Waterloo Regional Police.
If approved, the tax increase would bring an additional $13.5 million into regional coffers, for a total tax levy of $471 million.
