The National Football League has partnered with New Dundee Public School to launch its Play 60 program.
Staff from the NFL will be at the school to kick-off the 28 day fitness program.
The program works to motivate students to move more before, during, and after school for at least 60 minutes.
Andrea Michelutti, Principal at New Dundee Public School tells us some of the things students will be doing over the next four weeks.
“Intramurals throughout the day, there are a lot of activities where they’re doing circuit training, they’re doing drills, and they’re just moving their bodies more.”
She says her school is one of four chosen to pilot Play 60 in Canada.
“It is a really big program in the States but since we don’t have a team in Canada, NFL Canada is promoting it in four schools as pilot programs to see how they can launch it in Canada next year.”
Michelutti adds a school in Toronto is also participating, as well as two schools in British Columbia.
The school is also encouraging the community, to get moving every day in January.
Play 60 kicks off today in the school’s gymnasium at 12:10 p.m.
