It’s the sixth annual RBC Sports Day in Canada, a national celebration of sport with 2,000 local events-offering everything from meet and greets with Olympians and Paralympians to try-it activities.
Sports Day in Waterloo features winter activities like 3-on-3 hockey, curling, a hockey slap shot game, holiday face painting, you can also meet a Waterloo Siskin.
The event is happening today at the Hakim Optical Parking Lot at 21 Weber Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nancy Hall-Jupp, with Leisure & Active Living Programs, for the City of Waterloo says its a great way to showcase multiple different sports.
“I think it’s extremely important to showcase all the sports we have here. We definitely are trying to expand into other sports as more people move into our community, so that everybody can find something that they enjoy.”
In honour of its sixth year and to celebrate the Year of Sport, ParticipACTION and True Sport released the Top 15 Moments in Canadian Sport for 2015.
Ryan Carney of Cambridge made the list for Most Heartwarming Moment after teaching six-year-old Peyton Thomas how to skateboard back in October.
