Special Weather Statement: Strong winds expected Thursday

A strong Colorado low forecast to cross the Great Lakes will blast a strong cold front through Waterloo Region on Thursday morning.
In the wake of the cold front, strong southwesterly winds are expected to develop early with gusts up to 80 km/h in many places. A few higher gusts to 85 km/h are possible over more exposed areas.
Higher winds are expected near Eastern Lake Erie where a wind warning is in effect.
These strong winds will persist through this afternoon and evening before slowly starting to diminish somewhat later tonight or Friday morning.
