The United Way has declared today National Make the Month Day across Canada.
Make the Month, Canada’s first online poverty simulator, looks at the difficult decisions people living in poverty face regarding the things most of us take for granted.
Brian Bourke with United Way KW says the simulator challenges our perspective on poverty.
“Run yourself through the simulator and see if your perspective changes and perhaps you have a few decisions in common with people that maybe you didn’t think you did. It is a really interesting learning tool and I hope people will take advantage of it.”
Bourke adds the decisions are not supposed to be easy, and many don’t make it to the end of the month.
“A significant portion do not make it through because the decisions are tough. It isn’t designed to be easy…because in life it’s not easy to make it through.”
