Get ready to dig deeper – Ontario’s electricity prices officially went up November 1st.
The price of electricity during peak-hours will jump 8.7 per cent, while rates for other time periods will also see a small bump.
The rate hike is expected to increase the average household bill by about 3.4 per cent or $4.43 per month.
Rates are also expected to jump again on January 1st, when the 10 per cent clean energy discount will come to an end.
Another factor that could affect household hydro bills is the looming sell-off of hydro one. Shares will go on sale on Thursday.
