Kitchener keeps cruising, peppering the Petes

It wasn’t pretty, but it’s two points.

The Kitchener Rangers’ early season roll continues, earning a point in their first eleven games.

The Rangers pelted the Peterborough Petes at the Memorial Auditorium last night 4-1. That makes it six straight wins for the Blueshirts.

The team was once again led by its top-line of Adam Mascherin, Ryan MacInnis and Brandon Robinson. The three combined for six points in the win.

Mascherin has a point in every game this year for a total of 17 – seven goals and 10 assists, all of which are leading the team. The sophomore continues to show he’s matured heading into his draft year.

MacInnis has been a point-producing pirate (he’s been rocking the goatee-mustache-combo lately, drawing the comparison from teammates) over the last five games, notching 10 points, pushing his season total to 14.

MacInnis’ point production shot up after the return of Robinson from hip-surgery. The overage forward didn’t waste any time, scoring four goals in his first four games, to go along with an assist. A bit of a difference for the Pickering native: in three of his four previous years in the OHL, he’s had to wait over 10 games before scoring.

Dawson Carty picked up the win for the Rangers who are playing three games in four nights this weekend. He continues to make it very easy for Head Coach Mike Van Ryn to give Luke Opilka a night off.

Carty improves to 3-1-1 with a Goals Against Average of 1.74 and a 0.945 Save Percentage. Carty is 23 minutes-played away from being ranked with the best GAA in the league, which only ranks goalies who have played a minimum of 264 minutes.

The team is tied with the Erie Otters with the most points – 19 – in the OHL, but sit in third place in the Western Conference, because Erie has played one less game.

The East Ave Blue see the Saginaw Spirit Sunday at The Aud at 2 p.m. You can listen to the game on 570 News with Mike Farwell and Mike Torchia.
