Kitchener Fire will be out and about today looking to raise awareness and collect donations for two causes.
It’s their 10th Annual Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy Canada and their “Stuff a Fire Truck” event in support of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region
Joel Bromley with Kitchener Fire says they’ll be set up at Highland Hills Mall and the Sunrise Centre
“This is the first time that we have done a food drive on the same day as our boot drive and this year we decided to do two locations…we decided to step it up a little bit.”
When it comes to how much money they hope to collect, Bromley says each year they try to compete with Cambridge Fire.
“Each year they raise $30,000 plus…we would like to keep up with them…typically we do between 10 and 14 thousand, we’re hoping with the two locations perhaps we can get close to what Cambridge is able to put out every year.”
Over the past years Kitchener Fire has collected over $60,000.
