UPDATE: Kitchener fire causes $300,000 damage

Damage is estimated at $300,000 following an early morning fire in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police say the blaze started in the backyard of one residence on Tamvale Crescent, in the area of Bleams Road and Fischer-Hallman, spread to the house and then to another house.

Police say one person was taken to hospital to be assessed for smoke inhalation.

Police say the fire has been ruled accidental and is not suspicious.
