Toronto to Waterloo stretch could become Canada’s Silicon Valley

Is the Toronto to Waterloo corridor destined to become Canada’s own Silicon Valley?

An opinion piece in today’s Globe and Mail suggests, it could happen, if the will is there to make it a reality.

The commentary, co-authored by Communitech CEO Iain Klugman and Kevin Lynch, Vice-Chair of the Bank of Montreal, says in Canada, only “the Toronto-Waterloo corridor carries the unique potential to develop as Canada’s answer to Silicon Valley, and in the process, significantly move the needle on our national economy.”

They say the area already boasts “superb technical talent, creative ideas and intellectual property to rival the world’s best.”

They say, to really challenge Silicon Valley, a bold vision is needed and even bolder leadership, not only from government, but also from the private sector and universities.
