Police forced to taser Kitchener man

Waterloo Regional Police were forced to use a taser to subdue a male who was threatening to harm himself.

Police say they were called to a Kitchener residence last night where they found a man holding a large butcher’s knife.

Police say officers tried to negotiate with him but he refused to drop the knife, so they deployed the Conducted Energy Weapon.

Police say he then dropped the knife and was apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
