Despite a wet weekend, May was drier than normal

A very soggy weekend has drawn to a close.

570 News weather specialist John Wilson says we got 67 millimetres of rain over the two days, close to the 76 millimetres we would normally receive for the entire month.

Even with all that rain, May turned out to be drier than normal.

Prior to the weekend, we had only received a total of 6.6 millimetres of rain, and for the year, we’ve only received about 60 per cent of the normal amount of precipitation.

All the weekend rain resulted in some localized flooding, especially on Saturday with some cars in the Fairview Park Mall area having to be pushed out of huge puddles.
