Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced up to 1 billion dollars for the city of Hamilton…The investment is for light rail transit and GO service in the city. That’s about 700 million more than the province is giving to Waterloo Region – we’ve been allocated 300 million from the province – 265 million from the Federal Government – with the remainder – 253 million – being picked up by local taxpayers. The funding is part of the Liberal Government’s 10 year, 29 billion dollar plan to invest in public transit and infrastructure.

If you’re set to travel anytime soon – be aware of Air Canada – clamping down on carry-on bags. Airport staff at Pearson are set up and ready to make sure that carry-on bags meet size and weight requirements. The bags that meet the proper dimensions will get a red tag which will reportedly reduce wait times at security. According to Air Canada, carry-on bags that do not meet the requirements will be checked and fees will apply. Globe and Mail’s travel editor, Domini Clark joins us now to talk about how airfare and regulations have changed – as well as to explain how one can travel light.
