The Victoria Day long weekend saw a disturbing increase of incidents of impaired driving on Ontario roads.
In one case, a driver was charged after allegedly driving the wrong way on the 401 through Burlington and killing another motorist.
OPP Sergeant Dean Korn is troubled by the stats.
“As of 10am this morning (Monday), there’s been 30 charges (impaired driving) in the OPP Toronto area only…That’s a spike of 20-per cent from last year at the exact same time.”
The OPP say anyone who believes they’ve seen an impaired driver, should contact police immediately.
