12:00 – Drunk Driving Trial
Brian Caldwell, Reporter, Waterloo Region Record
A new trial has been ordered for Jeremy Glenfield…and a new judge – from outside of the region – will preside over it. Charges include impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and refusal to provide a breath sample  in relation to the 2011 crash that left an 11 year old dead. A plea deal – that lawyers on both sides brought forward – proposed that IF the ‘impaired driving causing death’ charge was dropped, Glenfield would plead guilty to the other two. Before declaring a mistrial on Monday, Justice Peter Hambly blasted the deal – calling it ‘wholly inadequate’ and that there was ‘abundant evident’ that Glenfield was impaired.

12:30 – Anniversary – Vietnam War
In studio: Yvonne Zensner, Owner/Operator at the cake box
This month marks the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, with the fall of Saigon on April 30th, 1975. Hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese fled the country’s Communist regime by boat in search of a new country, a new home. It was the September of 1979, that eight year old Yvonne Zensner arrived in Canada with her family of 12. Speaking no English at the time, they were sponsored by the Bethel Mennonite Church in Elmira – and began their new lives in uptown Waterloo. She joins us in studio to share her experience.
