11:00 – Sex trafficking

A Kitchener connection to a national human trafficking ring. Nine people have been charged….and another is being sought….in connection with a scheme in which gang members allegedly lured teenage girls and women into prostitution. Toronto police say the victims were taken to hotels and motels in Kitchener, the GTA, Hamilton, London, Niagara Falls, Winnipeg and Edmonton. Police say the victims are between 15 and 33 years of age and are from Ontario, Nova Scotia and Alberta. The accused include six men and three women between the ages of 18 and 32 and face more than 60 human trafficking and drug charges.

It’s an interactive art party on a train through Waterloo Region – everything else is a mystery until you board. The much anticipated Steel Rails event is back for another year…and we have a pair of tickets to give away on the show today. In years’ past, the event has featured local artists, musicians, art installations, interactive activities, great local food and craft beer on a historical train as it traveled from Uptown Waterloo to Elmira and back. Each year, guests are surprised with a new and exciting experience. The event goes Friday, June 26th at 6:15pm
