10:00 AM – Speed Traps
Staff Sgt. Jim Strand, Traffic Branch, Waterloo Regional Police Service
Ottawa Street and Dreger Avenue in Kitchener is a hotspot for catching speeders. According to The Record, police are often in the area with radar guns. Drivers are ticketed after speeding around the bend. The area is not among the most dangerous in the region and it has some wondering why police are devoting their time there.

10:30 AM – Pets – lobby group
Hardy Bromberg, Commissioner of Planning and Development, City of Cambridge
Angela Cowan & Jenny Storey, members, Social Petwork
Members of the Social Petwork are going before Cambridge City Council tonight – requesting a by-law that would stop the sale of puppies, kittens and rabbits at Number one pet centre. They’re concerned that these animals are coming from puppy mills and backyard breeders. Instead of selling the animals, the group wants the store to facilitate adoption from our local shelters – as many other municipalities do. Before we speak with our live guests, we hear from Hardy Bromberg, the Commissioner of Planning and Development Services for the City of Cambridge. He spoke with 570′s Arlene Dowell – and says staff is going to recommend that council NOT ban selling dogs at the store, and that they’ve been dealing with this issue for well over a year.
