Last April, Jakob Beacock, who played for the Waterloo Wolves Minor bantam hockey team passed away, he was only 13.
He was taken off life support, just days after being admitted to hospital with an appendicitis-related illness.
In two weeks, a fundraiser will be held in his honour at the Waterloo Recreation Complex.
34 players from the Major Peewee House League Division will suit up for NHL IDOL, Quest for the Beacock Cup.
A draft will take place next week where players will select what NHL team they will represent, there will be 30 jerseys, one for every NHL squad.
Players have been selling tickets to the game for $5. There will also be a number of door prizes at the event, including
a pair of sticks autographed by players on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
All money raised will be donated to Jumpstart in Jakob’s name. Jumpstart gets underprivileged kids involved in the sports they love.
The game is set for 7pm on Monday, April 27th.
