10:00 – Centre in the Square

Kitchener City Council looks to ratify their committee recommendation for the Centre in the Square’s mandate tonight. As we’ve discussed on the show before…The Centre is struggling, posting 1.5 million dollar deficit in 2013 and projecting a shortfall this year. (City contributes 1.2 million dollars annually) While tonight’s meeting will provide clarifying language and rubber stamp the mandate – it also makes another thing clear: The Centre and the KW Symphony must work together. The Symphony has also posted a deficit…and has been told it needs to give up some prime time slots, including Friday and Saturday nights.
