WRPS release statistics for St. Patricks Day 2015

Statistics have been released for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day in Waterloo, and police say they’re pleased with the results.

The most costly ticket was handed out was for having an open bottle of alcohol 204 people were charged.

“With an event this size with this many people consuming alcohol there were a few scrapes and bruises and a couple of small altercations and that sort of thing” says Alana Holtom, Spokesperson for Waterloo Regional Police. “Generally speaking, with the amount of people on Ezra Street and Seagram Drive locations, everything went fairly well and fairly safely.”

Paramedics were also called to 37 requests for service between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. and transported 8 patients to local Emergency Rooms. Of those patients, all were in stable condition with complaints ranging from alcohol intoxication, to minor cuts and falls.

Waterloo Fire also responded one false alarm, one case of vandalism where emergency exit signs were vandalized, and they were called to assess the occupancy load in the tent.
