A CIBC poll finds with the low Canadian dollar, many are willing to spend a little more on travel this year.
Last year the average Canadian spent $2,300, this year the average trip is going for almost $2,600.
Marketing Manager at TripCentral.ca, Pam DeHaan says regardless of the cost, many are still getting out of the cold Canadian temperatures. DeHaan says Jamaica is this year’s hot spot.
“You are pretty much guaranteed weather there. It’s hot, sunny, high 80’s, it’s just absolutely beautiful to hit during March Break. Especially this year, its been such a crazy winter with the extreme cold. People just can’t wait to get away.”
The poll says 19 per cent of travellers will still be travelling outside Canada, but have scaled back their spending.
DeHaan adds the other top two destinations this year are Dominican and Cuba.
