12:00 – GETTING Naked – THEMUSEUM

GETTING Naked opened this weekend at Kitchener’s THEMUSEUM! The exhibit exposes iconic Canadian art and our societal views around nudity. The exhibit, which runs until the end of May, showcases Canadian artists from Halifax to Vancouver with pieces from the 20th and 21st century. It includes 16 Naked Dialogues, with over 20 experts, 5 documentaries, and 3 panels. Topics for discussion will include the history of nudity and nakedness, nudity and nakedness in the media, public versus private opinions, and even the nakedness of food.
12:15 – Citizen of the Year

Nominations are open for this year’s Lions Club of Kitchener Citizen of the Year. The Lions Club wants to honour an individual who has made a difference in the community. Humanitarians and philanthropists have been honoured in the past. Last year’s 2013 recipient was Elizabeth Witmer, the longest serving female MPP (now Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.) 12:30 – Soldier killed

There are conflicting versions of what led to Friday night’s shooting death of Sergeant Andrew Doiron in Iraq. Kurdish officials are blaming the Canadians, claiming their soldiers opened fire after the Canadians showed up at the front line unannounced, ignored an order to remain in their vehicle and answered in Arabic when they were asked to identify themselves. A senior Canadian government official is adamantly rejecting that — saying Doiron and his three comrades had been at the same position earlier in the day and informed the Kurds they’d be returning later that night.
