The WCDSB’s St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre is offering a helping hand to students at Everest College.
With news that the college would be closing, St. Louis looked at how they could help and are offering a flexible Personal Support Worker (PSW) program for those interested.
Principal Paul Cox tells 570 News each student will be different, and they’re planning to meet with those interested over the next two weeks.
“They would go through Guidance and we would get a sense of what they’ve done in their lives, perhaps we would grant some previous credits, and then they would meet with our PSW Program Manager and an instructor and we would get a sense of where they are.”
The cost for the program would vary for each student as well. Cox says their tailored PSW program would be $1000 – a number that could change based on the experience and education level of the student.
The earliest a student could start is potentially March 23, 2015.
Overall, Cox says they want to help Everest College students anyway they can. He says their program has an over 92% employment rate after graduation and hopes that many students come forward so they can create a successful plan for them.
