Uber rep. to appear before regional council on Wednesday

We may have a better idea about a controversial ride-share app’s plans for Waterloo Region on Wednesday night.

That’s when an official for Uber is set to appear before regional council.

They aren’t saying what exactly he will have to say, but it’s likely he’ll try to calm concerns among councillors with political support thus far, less than enthusiastic.

Uber recently held some “interest” sessions with potential drivers in the area and tomorrow night’s presentation council could be its next step.

The Record reports regional staff have already warned Uber violates the regional taxi by-law and staff says, should it decide to launch the service here, legal services will look into whether or not any action should be taken.
