2014 another successful year for Region’s airport

Another successful year for the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

Passenger traffic increased by nearly 5% with a total of 145,508 travellers in 2014.

This is the third year in row the airport has seen an increase in business.

Chris Wood, General Manager at the Region of Waterloo International Airport says, “The airport has been an economic driver in this community for over 60 years connecting Waterloo Region to the world.”

He adds they hope even more people travel through the airport in 2015.

“We are hopeful that some things are going to happen for us this year. It could be existing carriers adding service or potentially new carriers starting in our region.”

Currently, flights out of the airport travel to Chicago, Calgary, and Cancun, Mexico from December to mid-March

Connections from these flights travel to over 250 destinations in 40 countries.

Bearskin Airlines ended their flights out of the Region’s airport to Ottawa last March.
