Rangers’ offence muzzled by the IceDogs

The Niagara IceDogs came, and they conquered.
The ‘Dogs dumped the Kitchener Rangers 5-1 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Friday night. The good news for the Rangers is it was the first of a back-to-back home-and-home, so a chance at redemption comes tonight.
Two Niagara goals bookended the first period giving them a lead, they wouldn’t give up.
Rangers’ defenceman Dylan DiPerna scored his first goal of the season, and first as a Ranger, in the second period, but the IceDogs added three more in the final frame, to put the game out of reach.
Josh Ho-Sang, Brendan Perlini and Carter Verhaeghe had three points each for the visitors.
Dawson Carty got the start in goal for the Blueshirts after battling the 24-hour flu. He stopped 23 of 28 shots. His counterpart, Brandon Hope stopped 30 of 31 shots.
The Rangers went 0-for-6 on the power play in front of an announced crowd of over 7,000 at The Aud.
Puck drop tonight at the Meridian Centre is at 7:00 p.m. The pre-game show on 570 News with Don Cameron and Mike Farwell begins at 6:30.
