Salvation Army’s annual kettle drive underway

The hustle and the bustle at the malls is starting to pick up as Christmas approaches.

In addition to all the “sale” signs you’ll see around the stores, you’ll also see the traditional Salvation Army Christmas kettles.

The annual kick off took place this past weekend.

Executive Director of the Salvation Army Cambridge and Community Family Services, Major Paul Gilbert tells 570 News, the donations are much needed.

He says it is their main fundraiser of the year with the money not only going towards Christmas programs, but also the community food program, summer programs and the backpack program.

The fundraising goal in Cambridge this year is $113,000.

Gilbert says the various programs they operate require about 100 volunteers, and they are need in more help from that standpoint this year.
