BlackBerry looking to expand in China

The head of Waterloo-based BlackBerry is interested in partnerships to expand in China.

The Globe and Mail says John Chen met with Xiaomi Corp. and Lenovo. He’s in Beijing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit.

The Globe says BlackBerry’s strengths in security, encryption, as well as privacy are in demand in China, the world’s largest smartphone market.

Chen adds it’s a huge and highly competitive market.

He also tells the paper his talks in China don’t imply that BlackBerry is for sale.

Meantime, Chen says the smartphone maker is on track for break-even cash flow by the end of this fiscal year.
