WRPS board approved about $600k (593 thousand dollars) for 182 Tasers. Will likely be deployed next year. Frontline officers will be given Tasers on sign-out basis. Currently, Police have 81 Taser brand stun guns, mostly for front-line sergeants and emergency response team officers.

11:30 – OPP to wear regular uniforms this Remembrance Day
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, OPP media relations
OPP officers are being told to wear regular uniforms, rather than dress uniforms at Remembrance Day ceremonies. This follows the deaths of two Canadian soldiers last month; one in Ottawa, one in Quebec. OPP say it is for the safety of Officers. Remembrance Day is a Statutory Holiday for officers and they are to wear plain clothes or full uniform, including body armour and service pistol, if attending ceremonies. This decision has been met with opposition, with a representative from the Ajax Royal Canadian Legion calling the decision ‘horrendous.’
