Oktoberfest treasure hunt key has been found

The key for King Ludwig’s treasure chest has been found.

Nana Schneider of Kitchener goes out with family every year to search for the key after Thanksgiving dinner.

This year she found the key under a log in Waldau Wood Park.

“We thought we’d kind of just dig around a little bit,” says Schneider “We got some titbits from previous years so we all picked up some twigs and started digging between logs, and in the crevices of each tree and we ended up finding it.”

The key opens up the treasure chest worth $3,000.

She knows exactly how she plans on spending the money.

“Vacation,” says Schneider. “For me personally, I’d like to go see my family overseas.”

She gave us a glimpse as to what the key looked like, in case you’re already looking ahead to next year’s hunt.

“It’s nothing like what I expected,” says Schneider. “It was a little tiny, old key. It looks like it’s been shrunk or something but just a little gold key that has, I don’t know how to describe it, not like a regular key that’s for sure.”
