New study: 700 HR leaders across North America, examines the sleep deficiency epidemic, which costs businesses $63.2 billion per year in lost productivity. The average adult needs seven to eight hours of sleep each night to be completely rested. However, one-third (CDC.gov) of adults sleep six hours or less each night. Sleep deficiency is a costly factor to productivity, errors and illness. More than 35% indicated sleep deficiency had negatively impacted productivity. Nearly one-third (31%) had personally witnessed or heard about a co-worker falling asleep on the job within the past six months. Suggestions for positive changes include: Guidelines for managing after-hours workload, rules related to checking electronic devices after work hours, Installation of nap rooms, Policies for international travelers pertaining to the impact of jet lag: 5%, Sleep disorder screening programs to assess those in safety-sensitive stages.
11:30- Dying with Dignity Survey: 84% of respondents support the legalization of assisted dying.

2014 Dying with Dignity Ipsos-Reid Survey: 84% of respondents support the legalization of assisted dying. Most Canadians generally agree with the concept of assisted dying, regardless of how it is specifically defined. Nine in ten (91%) agree that a person should not be forced to endure drawn-out suffering, and a similar proportion (91%) agree that palliative care is not enough. Regarding the statement “A doctor should be able to help someone end their life if the person is a competent adult who is terminally ill, suffering unbearably and repeatedly asks for assistance to die” 84% agree, while 16% disagree. Support for assisted dying is highest in Nova Scotia (89%) and BC (87%) followed by Ontario (85%) and Quebec (84%).
