Out of the Cold in Waterloo Region is losing another shelter location.
St. Anne’s Catholic Church on East Avenue in Kitchener will not be participating this winter.
It has served as a secondary location to the primary site: St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church on Benton which will continue to operate a shelter.
The coordinator of the program at St. Anne’s tells The Record, “We are not backing out or quitting. We are choosing to get out of the way to make room for better options.”
He is referring to last week’s announcement that the K-W YWCA and the Region planned to offer a transitional shelter that would operate every night offering 50 beds.
