A new study suggests Waterloo Region has one of the most understaffed police services in the country. The study, released today by the Fraser Institute, suggests the Waterloo Region Police Service is the 6th most understaffed department in the country. The study takes into account policing levels, local crime rates and other socio-economic factors such as income levels and unemployment rates. The study, however, also takes aim at police services it has deemed as overstaffed, saying they “burden taxpayers.”

If the results of a new survey are true, Kitchener residents are among the most ardent pet lovers in the country. Amazon.ca has released the second annual ranking of the top cities in Canada with the most pampered pets, as evidenced by the most pet-related items purchased per capita. Windsor tops the list the top 20 cities. Kitchener placed 7th. In fact, in one category – the city where residents purchased the most toys for their furry friends – Kitchener is third.
