1 dead after basement collapses on workers in north Toronto

One man has died after a basement collapsed at a home on Brookdale Avenue in north Toronto, near Avenue Road and Lawrence Avenue West, trapping several workers.
It’s believed at least one other man has been rescued.
Fire officials say four people were in the home at the time of the collapse. One of the workers was able to escape the home without help.
Two other workers were trapped under the rubble inside the home. It was later determined that one of the trapped men had died.
There has been no word on what caused the home to collapse.
