The St. Louis Rams have filled their 10-player practice squad, and it does not include defensive end Michael Sam.
Sam, who is trying to become the NFL’s first openly gay player, was among the final players the Rams cut on Saturday as the team set its 53-man roster. The Rams kept nine defensive linemen, including five defensive ends. Sam, a seventh-round pick from Missouri, was likely the 10th – and the sixth defensive end, behind starters Chris Long and Robert Quinn, reserves Eugene Sims and Williams Hayes, and rookie Ethan Westbrooks.
1:30- The internet is sexist
With the news this weekend that hackers got access to nude photos of reportedly more than 100 female celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, from a cloud-based Internet data storage system and posted them online, Time’s Sarah Miller tied it to what she said is sexist Internet culture, calling her opinion piece: “Where Are All the Hacked Pics of Men?” Miller notes that nude photo hackings are nearly always perpetrated against women, and writes, “This latest piece of unsavory, repulsive news is part of a larger theme on the Internet. The world is sexist; the Internet is sexist. Maybe the Internet is more so, because it is such a haven for cowards. Hadley Freeman also makes this point in The Guardian, writing, “The only time naked photos of men get leaked onto the Internet is when they ham-fistedly leak them themselves, as happens with various priapic male politicians like Anthony Weiner, and the general response is laughter and mockery. With women, that leaking happens when others steal the images from their phones, and the response here is darker, sexual, triumphal….There is no difference between the leaking of stolen naked photos from a female celebrity’s phone and so-called “revenge porn,” when a man leaks photos of an ex-partner. It’s a means of exuding power over someone who thought they were, if not powerful, at least independent.”
