Cottage country construction has stalled

It is consider a luxury for most Canadians. Owning a little piece of heaven in cottage country. But experts say cottage construction has stalled.

Toronto Real Estate Lawyer and Author Mark Weisleder tells 570 news the number of permits issued to build cottages has dropped and buying an already existing structure is still very expensive.

He says Canadians not only have to think about the purchase price but the cost to maintain the property which is far more then going on vacation to a 5 star resort.

Weisleder says the price of the cottage is determined by the location and number of listings in the area
Also buying a cottage is much different then buying a home. Weisleder says you need to determine who maintains access to the cottage, if you actually own the land the cottage is on and different maintenance issues like septic tanks.
