Idol alum Michael Johns dies suddenly at 35

A former American Idol finalist has died suddenly at the age of 35.

The show’s official facebook page has confirmed that Michael Johns, the Australian born singer passed away on Friday.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Michael John’s death was caused by a blood clot in his leg.

Johns placed eighth on the seventh season of Idol where David Cook took the title. He received a lot of praise throughout the season from all three former judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. This was especially the case when John’s performed his version of Dolly Parton’s It’s All Wrong but It’s All Right.

Johns was married to Stacey Vuduris since 2007 and is the first Idol contestant ever during the show’s run to have passed away.

Cowell, Jackson and Abdul, as well as several former contestants have taken to Twitter to express their reaction and condolences to the news.
