It’s the biggest festival of it’s kind here in the Region and it’s taking up residency at the Crown Plaza in Downtown Kitchener throughout the weekend.
It’s called Emiko’s Mini Convention and media coordinator, Dennis Claveau tells 570 News what the event has to offer.
“We’re going to have cosplayers there, so people dressed up in costumes. We’re going to have gaming events, so there will be video games, card games, board games to play. On Saturday there’s going to be a masquerade, so people that like to dress up can can enter that for free. We also have a $5 entry if people want to enter that for prizes as well.”
Claveau himself is no stranger to dressing up. As well as being at the Delta in person, he will be there as his counterpart, Chocobodo (a self-described “candy-pirate.”)
It’s the sixth annual convention, which originally started as an event at Wilfred Laurier University before opening up to the public three years ago.
Focusing mainly on anime, gaming and comic books, Claveau says the event also features several vendors and independent artists.
Emiko’s Mini Convention runs today from 11am until 10pm and Sunday from 11-6 p.m. You can visit their website here.
