Guelph commuters frustrated as transit lockout continues

As the transit lockout approaches two weeks in Guelph, many people in town are losing patience.

570’s Martin Bauman spoke with several frustrated transit users:

One man complained of having to spend $100 on cab fare in the past two weeks already.

Another frustrated commuter went out and bought himself an e-bike.

“They’re so far apart — what the city’s offering and what [the union] wants — they’re not even negotiating at this moment, I understand,” said one man.

A mother and father visiting Guelph said they’re worried about how their son, who starts at the University of Guelph in September, will get around if the lockout stretches into the fall.

The City of Guelph and the union representing its transit workers were scheduled to meet once again on Thursday.
