Galt Post Office renovation approved

The overall design of the old Galt Post Office renovation is approved, and will work harder to keep residents in the loop about developments.

Today’s Record reports residents complained they only had four days to go over the plans that were unveiled at a public meeting on Thursday night.

Concerns surround the design of the building with some saying they don’t like the proposed glass addition, others say it won’t maintain the heritage of the 130-year-old building.

Some residents even wanted to make this an election issue, asking to defer the decision until after the October 27th election.

Ultimately an 8-1 vote stamped the seal of approval on the plans, because council says they don’t have much time left before time takes its toll on the structure.

City staff let the gallery know all future meetings will be open to the public.
