Angus tornado causes an estimated $30M in damage

Insurance Bureau of Canada says the tornado that hit Angus last month caused at least $30M in damage.

Over 100 homes were damaged when the twister ripped through the community on June 17, forcing people out of their homes and into emergency shelters, or the care of loved ones.

IBC has been offering on-site, insurance-related information to residents to help with residential and business claims.

Working with local emergency staff and politicians, IBC helped prepare a plan for everyone to return home to inspect damage and work with adjusters to begin restoration.

Extra insurance staff was brought in to being handing out cheques to help residents cover their daily needs and begin processing claims.
