Multiple fires and alarms in Kitchener

Kitchener Fire Department has been busy Sunday night into Monday morning, with multiple fires and alarms.

A downtown Kitchener resident is displaced from their apartment after a fire Sunday night that started in the kitchen.

Kitchener Fire telling 570 News the blaze was started by an unattended pot left on an electric stove.

There was heavy smoke and heat damage in the apartment at the tune of $10, 000.

No one was injured, but the resident can’t return to the apartment until repairs are made.

And a home on Simeon Street is suffering $5, 000 in damage after being hit by lightning Monday morning.

Everyone inside was safe, but the lightning possibly sent a power surge through the electrical, damaging a couple electrical outlets and a computer.
