The University of Waterloo is hosting its annual celebration at Columbia Lake on Tuesday.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the university’s first Canada Day party.
UW is promising a big night, and there are rumours that a certain astronaut turned professor will sing the national anthem.
Kelly McManus, the Senior Director of Community Relations and Events at UW, says the event has really evolved over the years. “Those of you who were out joining us last year see we’ve got a big new stage, big screens, great bands, and [we’re] really taking it to a new level in how we welcome our community,” says McManus.
The fireworks will get underway at 10pm.
The Born Ruffians and Steven Page perform earlier in the evening.
