Damages appear extensive after earlier fire in Kitchener

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire that ripped through a home garage in Kitchener earlier today.

Kitchener Fire Platoon Chief Greg Willett tells 570 News that the fire originated at 243 Clarke Avenue, but with today’s winds, it caused an exposure fire at the neighbouring home.

Willett says that there are damages to both homes. Damages to the originating home appears more extensive. He also told 570 News that no one was hurt as a result.

“I believe there was two people that escaped unharmed at 243. No one was home at the other house.”

The official damage amount is not yet known.
