Aviation Fun Day

The 4th annual aviation fun day is taking place at the Waterloo International Airport from 9-4 today.
Its a chance to learn about the world of aviation and a get a backstage look at the local airport.
Maureen Dennie – Communications Coordinator for the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre says its a great opportunity for high school students who have interest in becoming a pilot.
“Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre and great lakes helicopter is partnered with Conestoga College and University of Waterloo for a diploma program or degree in Aviation.”
Airplane and helicopter rides will also be available for a small fee and all proceeds go towards Hope Air. A national charity that offers free flights to Canadian families that need to attend medical appointments.
“There are lots of families in remote areas where it would take them days or they might not be able to afford a flight to get to their medical appointment in Toronto or Vancouver. Hope Air steps in and provides these flights to families at no cost.”
Dennie adds there will be 14 exhibitors from various areas of aviation.
