What locations will be named this year’s Great Places in Canada? Where do you like to hang out? Is there a street, neighbourhood or public space you really love? The fourth annual Great Places in Canada competition is underway. Last year, over 100,000 people voted. This year, nominations will be accepted from May 22 until Aug 19. The voting begins Aug 20 and ends Sept 25. Winners will be announced Nov 7.

DIG IN is a one day region-wide food drive to raise non-perishable food needed for the summer months at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. There will be events and activities at donation sites throughout the region organized by neighbourhood associations, businesses, organizations, and schools. Why DIG IN? – 1 in 20 Waterloo Region residents needed food assistance last year – 47% of households needing assistance are families with children – the harsh winter has depleted food bank resources – hunger knows no season.
